Objective of the audit was toevaluation of entire process of water provision from abstraction of waster(abstraction of the water, transportation, unloading, suitability, conditions and suitability ofthe road tankers for carrying domestic water), checking hygiene conditions,licenses, competence of drivers and other personnel (availability of training,routine treatment of tanks, etc). Validity of results provided by Poti lab (inparticular results of microbiological testing) was checked. Samples from watersupply system were collected for sanitary and microbiological analysis. Thestate of maintenance and suitability of the road tanks was checked. Accordingto results of chemical analysis the main components and sanitary characteristicsare in the limits of WHO guidelines. Considered was possibility for the use ofPoti municipal water supply as alternative source of water provision to the BPsite in Supsa. However, taking into account the status of the Poti system(restricted power supply, insufficiency of water reserve) the latter can not beconsidered as a sound alternative. A selection of alternative source requiresspecial time and affords and funds and can be the subject of a separate study.
