Channel Energy (Poti) Limited Georgia operates oil products storage terminal. Scientific-research firm Gamma in accordance to monitoring contract between parties has carried out Environmental monitoring of the terminal in Poti. The activities included full year monitoring of phase 1 and selective monitoring for Phase 2 (Phase 2 was under construction during 2005 and started operation in 4th quarter). Zenith Gamma Consulting had carried out research on the project. Relevant reports were presented to community and approved by decision makers. The reports are: Petroleum products handling and storage terminal. Baseline EIA study report; Ref No 5030/r2; Environmental Impact Assessment for oil and oil product transshipment terminal; Ref No 5060r1 ; Environmental Impact Assessment for the second stage of construction of oil and oil product transshipment terminal; Ref No 5105r1; Environmental monitoring scheme for the Poti terminal 5132r1. Based on the experience the sludge sampling point was removed from the environmental monitoring scheme (because of the technical reasons and difficulty of access to the sampling point) and one sampling point was add for the investigation of sea water quality from adjacent to site 1 inner harbour. |
