| Summary |
Investigations are realized in frames of Georgian National Scientific Foundation grant project “GNSF/ST07/5-206 Study of geochemistry of the Georgian sector of the Black Sea and pollutants accumulation dynamics”. Objective of the project is the study of fundamental sedimentological, geochemical and ecological issues; study of environmental conditions in the catchments areas of the rivers of the Black Sea basin with the view of an impact imposed on the marine environment; assessment of the nature, sources and risks of the man-caused impact on the sea environment. Objective of the working group is preparation of the program for monitoring of territorial waters of the 6 states of the Black Sea basin. This requires harmonization of the list of the components and the methods and introduction of the QC systems in the labs. Research area includes Georgian sector of Black sea. By work plan, the hydrochemical, geochemical and ecological investigation of sea water and sea sediments is realized. 74 sea sediment samples and 80 sea water samples are collected. Compound distribution maps are prepared on GIS platform and distribution data is analyzed. Additionally, the sediments and water quality of Black sea basin rivers are studded. The data for sea and rivers are discussed together. |
